Georgy Molodtsov is a director, creative producer, curator and innovation lead based in Paris. He trained in documentary direction at VGIK in Sergey Miroshnichenko's workshop and later completed an MA in Film & Video at American University as a Fulbright Fellow. His early films were made through international study and production programmes and received festival recognition.
In 2005 he co-founded the Social Advertising Laboratory, where he worked as Creative Director and directed commercial, corporate and public-interest campaigns. This work led to the 2016 Media Manager of Russia special prize.
From 2008 to 2017 he programmed documentary sections of the Moscow International Film Festival and, from 2010 to 2015, acquired documentaries for Rossiya-Kultura television. He also served as Vice-President and Board Member of the Documentary Film and Television Guild.
In 2015 he founded Film XR, beginning with VRability and going on to produce original immersive works, commissioned VR projects and international XR programmes. Since 2020 he has collaborated with the French studio VRROOM on social VR and virtual production. His work there includes five collaborations with Jean-Michel Jarre, among them OXYMORE. The projects have been recognised by the Webby Awards, the Producers Guild of America Innovation Award and the European XR / Crystal Owl Awards.
His own immersive productions include MormoVerse: Under the Pillow, winner of the Raindance Immersive Award for Best Immersive Narrative and presented in Venice Immersive Best of Worlds. His current work also includes spatial-media R&D and Sim XR, developed at the intersection of XR and robot teleoperation.
Georgy is a member of the IADAS Webby Awards Jury and the Television Academy Emerging Media Programming Peer Group. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents and Wordshop BBDO Advertising Academy, both in 2007, and has served as a mentor at Venice Biennale College Cinema Immersive.
