Jean-Michel Jarre’s Fête de la Musique performance inside a VRChat environment produced by VRROOM.
Alone Together was Jean-Michel Jarre’s Fête de la Musique concert inside VRChat in June 2020. Created during the first phase of the pandemic, it tested how a virtual venue, live performance and public stream could function as a single event.
A live event built remotely
The production connected Jarre’s physical performance setup with the VRROOM world, audience management and a public live stream at a moment when conventional concert infrastructure was unavailable.
Technical production as part of the form
Georgy Molodtsov worked on live-stream and technical production. The task was not only transmission: the virtual audience, performer, cameras and platform limitations all had to be orchestrated in real time.
The beginning of a longer collaboration
Alone Together established the working relationship that continued through Welcome to the Other Side, OXYMORE, Versailles 400 and later large-scale visual production for Bridge from the Future.
